Out with the old. In with the new.

As 2023 comes to an end, we are grateful to all of you who stepped onto this path with us. Maybe you walked the entire way or maybe you came to visit occasionally. Whatever the case, it is now time to reflect on 2023 and make plans to create an amazing 2024.

We 4WildWomen will gather December 27th-29th as we have done for many, many years. Of all of the things we do together, this gathering is the one we have been most faithful to because we know it is the most powerful. As much as we all enjoy the holiday gathering with our families, this is something extra special that we treasure. Over the course of less than 48 hours, we will say farewell to the old year and welcome the new year with love, grand dreams, intentions, and plans. We will walk back out into the world on December 29th ready to meet the new year with full hearts and some serious plans for magic.

We want to share what we do with you in case you want to build a tradition of your own. Take what we do and make it your own - let it evolve as the years come and go. And this entire process can be done with a party of one. Set aside some time for yourself, make it beautiful, and dig in. This does not need to be a group adventure, although it can be.

This year we are gathering at 2 pm on December 27th at one of our homes. We have already sorted out who is responsible for different meals and snacks during our time together. We are never short on food as feasting and celebrating together are always the forefront of our gatherings. There might even be a bottle of wine and cocktail thrown in for good measure. This first afternoon and evening are dedicated to gratitude for this past year. Thankfully, our journals hold within them so many details that will help us remember the moments that built our year. We will spend time with our 2023 journals as we reflect and journal about these questions.

  1. What went well? What were my happiest moments?

  2. What were the biggest struggles?

  3. What areas do I feel I could have improved upon?

  4. What did I want to achieve in 2023 but didn’t? Why do I believe this did not happen? Do I want to carry any of these forward into the new year?

  5. What was my level of commitment to my goals in 2023?

  6. What were my biggest lessons?

  7. What old limiting stories did I have this year that I will now release and let go of, that no longer serve me?

  8. How did I embody my word for the year?

Once we have all had the time we need to work our way through these questions, we sit together and share what we discovered. We will pull a card at the end of the evening as a final entry in our beautiful journals.

The next day is devoted to our new journals and the year to come. It waits for us as a blank canvas. So much possibility, so much potential, so many choices we get to make. If you have been with us this entire year, you know what to do. This is exactly where we were a year ago. Find your word, find images that speak to it and your dreams for the year, fill your journal with magic, make some plans and commitments. Here are some questions you can work your way through as we will. The more thought and detail you put into these now, the more you will get out of your year. It is really as simple as that.

  1. What is my WORD for the year? How do I want to be and feel, most of the time?

  2. How will this word fit into my plans and goals for the year?

  3. What 3 areas of my life do I wish to focus on?

  4. What are some specific goals I want to set in each of these areas?

  5. How might I go about achieving these goals? What baby steps can I take? Who might I call upon for support? What tools might I consider? What deadlines will I give myself? How often will I assess my level of commitment/progress?

  6. How am I willing to face obstacles this year? What resources will I rely on to get through the rough patches?

  7. How can I contribute to my community this year?

  8. If this was my last year of life, what 2 things would I want to get done? How will I know when I achieve this?

That evening, we will share what we have created, what we hope for, what we have planned. It is good to put it all out there with others so they can help encourage you as the year moves along. We will pull a card for our new year. And, that's it. Less than 48 hours later, we are set to create a 2024 with intention and love.

P.S. And great questions too. I will reflect upon them.
